Cupellation is an enhancing process in metallurgy. It is a procedure where ores or alloyed metals are treated at high temperatures with the intended controlled operation to separate noble metals from base metals. This is achieved with a base principle that precious metals do not oxidise or react chemically like the base metal at higher temperatures.
